Ultimately, this way of living may be achieved through five pragmatic pillars: your food, thoughts, habits, speech, and sleep.
1. Sattvic Food
By eating purely, you begin to live a pure life. Sattvic eating is simple and natural. Consume only fresh food, avoiding items that are fabricated, synthetic, or containing GMOs. Nourish your body with fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, pure cow's milk, and ghee. Ensure your meals are properly seasoned and easy for your intestines to digest. The most vital ingredient in your kitchen is the energy of the chef, as food must always be cooked with love.
2. Sattvic Thoughts
What you think, you ultimately become. Cultivate clean and simple thinking in your daily life, consciously embrace positive thoughts. Avoid the heavy vibrations of anger and rage. Fill your mind with kindness, gratitude, and compassion. These qualities may be anchored into your mind through the daily discipline of meditation.
3. Sattvic Habits
Your daily habits uplift you and shape your destiny. Maintain basic self-discipline by eating, sleeping, and waking on a regular and consistent daily schedule. Wake up early, between 5:00 AM and 6:00 AM, avoiding the sluggishness of rising at 8:00 AM or 10:00 AM. Perform pranayama, the breathing exercises of yoga. Remain alert and focused in the present moment. Being in the present prevents heavy, gross thoughts from taking root. Spend more time in nature and reduce your screen time. Dedicate yourself to serving others. Serve selflessly within the four walls of your house, and then extend that service outside to friends, colleagues, and beyond to uplift the fabric of society.
4. Sattvic Speech
The words coming out of your mouth are a form of energy, and you must use this energy wisely. Always speak the truth, and deliver that truth in the language of love. When your love carries truth, it does not carry negativity. Let your speech reflect kindness, care, and generosity. Eradicate gossip, slander, criticism, and jealousy from your vocabulary entirely. Speak less; remember that you were given two eyes and two ears, but only one mouth, meaning you should listen and hear more than you speak. Never use your words to cut others. Let every word you speak act as a healing balm, bringing profound comfort and peace to another soul.
5. Sattvic Sleep
Sleep without clutter and without screens to ensure you wake up rejuvenated and refreshed. Eat only a light supper, such as soup with bread, and strictly avoid heavy foods at night. About 30 to 40 minutes before sleeping, open the doors and windows to freshen it. Keep the room dark, but not pitch dark, light a candle if you wish. Stop the screen time at least one hour before bed. Additionally, remove all electronic gadgets from your bedroom before sleeping, as their radiation affects your system. Get a minimum of 6 to 7 hours of rest, and a maximum of 8 to 9 hours. Take 1 to 2 minutes right before sleep to connect with the Divine.

Sattvic speech acts as a cement in your relationships and it will draw positivity and people to you from every direction, just as iron is drawn to a magnet. Sattvic sleep grants you deep, peaceful rest that balances your hormones and improves your memory. By walking this path of purity, your heart purifies, your mind calms, and your intuition increases, naturally attracting the Divine.
As Within, So Without
When your mind is calm and your intuition is high, you are in sync with the Sattva way of living. This keeps you away from Rajas, which causes restlessness, stress, anxiety, and anger. Excess Rajas is always on the move, always fighting. Sattvic way of Living also keeps you away from Tamas, the energy of inertia that causes laziness, negativity, and depression. Excess Tamas can lead to deep sadness, suicidal tendencies, and alcoholism. Sattvic energy is the most refined and is referred to as Gold, Rajas as silver, and Tamas as iron or copper.
What you are inside is what you project on the outside. The English idiom is ‘as above, so below’. How you project yourself and how you speak reveals that which is predominant and inside you. If you are consumed by depression, Tamas is dominant. If you are consumed by aggression, Rajas is dominant. By taking the effort to purify within, what is outside you will effortlessly transform. A pure foundation of food, thoughts, habits, speech, and sleep is the foundation of a joyful, meaningful life.
